Giving up the coke, man

So, for the millionth time, I am attempting to give up Diet Coke. In the process of going through withdrawls, I've lost my purse (just found it), forgot my jewelry, crashed each night by 10 but have woken up at 2am only to lie in bed for two hours straight.

I'm thinking I'm a bit addicted.

And that's just dumb.

How are you all? Giving anything up these days in efforts to get healthy?

I'm supposed to be giving up most every food I love for the sake of my swelling abdomen and rising cholesterol but I am failing miserably ... Fat and happy is till working for me but I know I'll eventually pay a price for my shoddy health habits.

I'm giving up food in general to become healthy. After I have a snack.

I've given up white flour, fruit, fried greasy goodness and sugary goodness of all sorts and cut down on my portions. So far I've lost about 15 - 18 pounds - with only another 20 to go!! UUgghh!

I'm going to give up refined sugar for a week (including alcohol!) once I finish off the cupcakes on my kitchen counter. That'll probably be by this afternoon.

I'm giving up being a lazy slug by getting back into my running routine.

These floppy thighs aren't loving me for it, though...

Since you're a recovering approval addict/perfectionist, I say...kudos for trying to give up the diet coke. I'm not sure whether it is the caffeine or the soda you're trying to ditch - or both. Addictions are tough.

In my quest to get healthier...I dream of doing yoga 3x a week. I say dream, because the actuality hasn't er..occured yet.

As far as vices, I have several. Whiskey - usually with Coke (not diet), chocolate and strong black tea with cream & sugar. My most recent addiction is blogging.

Yep. I am. Not just to get healthy, but also b/c I don't want to be a bad influence on my kid or my students....
Any guesses?
You'll have to email me to find out.

Oh, and those caffeine from Coke withdrawals SUCK major Donkey. I once tried to give up diet coke and my L.A. class begged and pleaded for me to have a giant glass/mug of it b/c I was really pissy to them.

Best of luck, dude.
Aloha,
J

You got it bad! I would like to give up something to be more healthy. But that would mean...well...giving up something. That's not fun.

Good luck with giving up diet coke. Maybe it's really the trace amounts of cocaine in there that are causing your withdrawal symptoms! I'm working to lose 10 pounds of leftover pregnancy weight, but I'm pretty patient about it. We're also giving up most TV in our home, which has led to healthier activities like walking around our lake or playing board games together. We're going to do an entire fast from all screens (TV and computer) sometime in June or July for a week. Oh, and I have to reply about the class...sorry I haven't yet!

Diet crack...That HG is a funny one. So true, though. I'm down to about one every day and a 1/2. In other words, sometimes I do really well, and then I see all those lonely cans in the garage, and am overwhelmed with the urge to drink every last one.

Also trying to give up as much sugar as possible. Which sucks Bronto. Actually, it sucks Blue Whale.

Don't do it! Don't give it up! It's the gateway give up to giving up tv, automatic dishwashers, and hair dye! It's all downhill from there, man..all downhill.

I try, I do. I sub no caff iced tea and that works most of the time. But I still drink Coke some. I can not help it. I will drink the no caff ones just because I love that fizz and well, I am very weak.

I am now ashamed...

Love,
Sue
